Facebook as a social object 07:26 on Tuesday

Perhaps the people who doubt Facebook’s continuing success are thinking of Facebook itself as the social object in play: they think people talk to friends, old school mates, and old colleaques in Facebook because of Facebook.

It could be so for some, but on the other hand many people are exchanging photos (the people tagging feature is powerful), and maintaining their close real life networks online at Facebook. They have their own social objects, be it photos or the various reasons that keep offline relationships going. Those people do not stop using Facebook because they would get bored with it. They will only stop using it when something even better comes along.
