Mirroring friends’ behaviour 22:43 on Monday
There are a lot of social networking apps for mimicing friends’ behaviour.
- Watch what they watch (YouTube)
- Listen to what they listen to (Last.fm)
- Go where they go (43 Places)
- Do what they do (43 Things)
And so on. You can probably think of many many other examples.
Last.fm lets you see and listen to everything your friends listen to, it lets you recommend tracks to your friends, it lets you listen to a radio station tailored to your friend’s tastes.
Yet somehow I feel there’s a lot of room to go further with this concept. For me this mimicing behaviour would be strictly entertainment of the killing-time variety. And killing time is what mobile is for.
Sometimes a change of perspective can get you someplace else. From helping people to find new music to enabling people to imitate their friends. From finding where your friends go to following their trails.
