Misconceptions About Usability 21:30 on Saturday

With so many badly designed user interfaces around us it’s about time the developers paid attention to usability testing. No matter what you think about Jakob Nielsen you should read his newest column called Misconceptions About Usability. It’s a call for usability action that only a brainless zombie would ignore, proving wrong in clear language the main things user-abusing developers and designers whine about:

  • usability is expensive
  • it’s a waste of time (a lot of time)
  • usable design is opposed creative design (which is like saying all nutritious food tastes awful)
  • listening to customer feedback creates usability
